Perspective. Experience. Flexibility.
As a woman, veteran-owned business, MMH Legal Solutions brings a unique perspective to every case based on years of diverse experience.
At MMH Legal Solutions, we believe flexibility is the key to surviving all that work and life throw our way. It’s not always smooth sailing, and that’s why we’re here. Let us tailor solutions to fit your needs, whether it’s reviewing employment contracts, drafting employment policies, advocating on your behalf, mediating what seems an unresolvable conflict, or investigating allegations of workplace misconduct.
Origins.
MMH Legal Solutions founder Melissa Horton hails from a long line of military veterans. As a Texas-licensed attorney admitted to practice in the U.S. Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, Ms. Horton has served the nation in the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps and overseas with the U.S. Department of State. She has trained and advised hundreds of federal employees, service members, and military leaders regarding workplace policies, laws, and ethics and has conducted hundreds of workplace investigations and mediations. She has trained employees on the legalities, cultural nuances, and technologies needed to investigate and resolve workplace disputes.
While at U.S. Embassy Santiago, Chile, Ms. Horton managed employment-related legal matters involving diplomats and their families as well as those involving contract and local national employees. She also led the embassy’s inaugural Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council.
Ms. Horton received her bachelor of arts degree in journalism from what is now the Gwen Ifill College of Media, Arts, and Humanities at Simmons University in Boston, MA; her master’s degree in intercultural relations from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA; and her law degree from the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. She served as the SMU Law Review’s co-editor-in-chief of the Annual Texas Survey and clerked for then-Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson of the Texas Supreme Court.
